Diaries, logbooks, and a typescript written by Eaton while serving aboard various ships and visiting numerous ports as a U.S. Naval officer (1883-1892). Collection includes a logbook/diary kept while aboard the U.S.S. "Trenton" and also probably the U.S.S. "Alert" (1883-1885); a diary kept while on a cruise aboard the U.S.S. "Trenton" from New York to Singapore (Sept. 18, 1883-Apr. 19, 1884); typescript "Glimpses of Madagascar from a Man-of-War" about his trip there while serving on the U.S.S. "Alliance" (1887, 11 leaves); and a diary kept while serving with the hydrographic survey ship the U.S.S. "McArthur" (1892).
